Can math be fun?


Putting away the math curriculum can be a bit intimidating but it can also free you and your child to play at math instead. Why not bring them into the kitchen and use measuring cups and cooking? They will learn fractions and dividing without knowing that is what is happening. Try your had at Tangrams - the famous 7 piece puzzle that makes a square. When your child is using these shapes they are seeing how things fit together, and learning spacial awareness. You can make your own tangram set by doing a quick search online to get the shapes needed. Card games can reinforce addition and subtraction skills and seeing which number is greater or less than. When you start thinking about all the different ways you use math throughout the day you will be amazed. Give it a try- I challenge you!
