Do you read for fun?
I just finished reading The Little Prince. This isn't really something I would pick up to read for fun, but being in a book club I was challenged to read it and be ready to discuss it tonight when we get together. How fun!
I have been part of a book club for about twenty years and each month I have been challenged to read. What I like about it is that we read such a variety of books! We've read books from The Count of Monte Cristo to The Great Gatsby, from The Brothers Karamazov to The Little Prince.
Reading for yourself is so important! When you home school your children, all the focus tends to be on their education. But it is equally as important for you to be getting an education as well. I have been blessed to be married to a man who loves to read and talk about literature. I have learned so much from just listening to him and from being a part of my book club. It doesn't come naturally for me, but I sure love reading and learning for myself!
Why not challenge yourself to read something you wouldn't normally pick up. Maybe The Little Prince is a good place to get started. Who knows, by this time next year you could have several books read that you wouldn't normally have picked up, but what an education you will have!
